To make this vintage punk music scene, I was inspired by the early 1980's wave punk band Blondie's song "One Way Or Another".

We headed to some specific underground-style urban locations to carry out these photos. I loved the shots where Punk Alvaro, sitting leg-crossed, reads a Rolling Stone magazine with a radio close to him and the writings on the wall behind; and the shots of the graffitti drawings on an old, abandoned, filthy and foul-smelling public elevator to make it look like a 1980's New York punk scene...... but it's here in Santiago, Chile.

Para realizar esta antigua escene punk, me inspiré en la canción "De Una U Otra Manera" ("One Way Or Another") de la banda punk wave de principio de los 80's Blondie.

Fuimos a algunas locaciones urbanas de estilo "under" específicas para llevar a cabo estas fotos. Me encantó las tomas en donde Punk Alvaro, sentado de piernas cruzadas, lee una revista Rolling Stone con una radio junto a él y los escritos en la pared detrás; y las tomas de los graffittis en un viejo, abandonado, sucio y mal oliente ascensor público para que se viera como una escena punk de Nueva York de los 80's....... pero es acá en Santiago, Chile.

King For A Day / Rey Por Un Día

I took the name of "King For A Day" to this project from a song by the 1980s British New Wave group Thompson Twins. I listened to it a couple of times and I was fascinated with the music and words, and I found out that some visual idea would come up out of my mind and, this is what finally turned out. Something simple but reflexive at the same time, depending on how it is viewed.
And once again, and for the second time, I made this project on 1st of May, Labor Day. I worked on this same date three years ago when I embarked on the "Chasin' The Wind" project (2009) on a beach as well, just like in this one.

Tomé el nombre de "Rey Por Un Día" para este proyecto de una canción de la banda Británica de New Wave de los 80s Thompson Twins. La escuché un par de veces y me fascinó la música y letra, y descubrí que alguna idea visual saldría de mi cabeza y, ésto es lo que resultó. Algo simple pero reflexivo al mismo tiempo, dependiendo de cómo se mire.
Y una vez más, y por segunda vez, realizé este proyecto el día 1 de Mayo, Día del Trabajo. Trabajé en esta misma fecha hace tres años atrás cuando me embarqué en el proyecto "Persiguiendo El Viento" (2009) también en una playa, tal como en éste.

Cyndi Lauper In Chile 2011

I recently had the opportunity to attend to the show for one of the still-ongoing musical icons of the 1980s: Cyndi Lauper. She performed at the Viña del Mar Enjoy Casino (Chile) and I was there to enjoy her intimate and warm act.

Recientemente tuve la oportunidad de asistir al concierto de uno de los aun vigentes íconos musicales de los 80s: Cyndi Lauper. Ella actuó en el Casino Enjoy de Viña del Mar (Chile) y yo estuve ahí para disfrutar de su espectáculo íntimo y cálido.

Hi from the Top

Here, making the Peace sign from one of the highest hills in Santiago, the Manquehue Hill. It was hard to get to the middle of the hilltop but it was enough for that day (Feb 2011).

Aquí, haciendo el signo de la Paz desde uno de los cerros más altos en Santiago, el Cerro Manquehue. Fue árduo llegar a la mitad de la cima pero fue suficiente por ese día (Feb 2011).

Olivia Newton-John en Chile ( Nov. 2010)

Oh, I couldn't believe it but it was one of my happiest days I've ever had so far, recently. My favorite artist, the British-Australian singer Olivia Newton-John, was here in Santiago for the very first time (Nov. 16, 2010). She came to perform a live concert and the next day after the show, I was waiting for her at the airport to try to catch her when she was leaving off. And I did it!!

Here some memorable pictures (and smiles) she gently gave to me.

Oh, no lo podía creer pero fue uno de mis días más felices que haya tenido, recientemente. Mi artista favorita, la cantante Británica-Australiana Olivia Newton-John, estuvo aquí en Santiago por primera vez (Nov. 16, 2010). Vino a dar un concierto en vivo y al día siguiente a la presentación, yo estaba esperandola en el aeropuerto para tratar de capturarla cuando abandonara el país. Y lo logré!!

The Scottish Style

Making this photo session was as quick and easy as I didn't figure out. Ha ha !, but I didn't have to travel to the far and cold Scotland to meet a genuine "Scotchman", although the red skirt and the accessories are genuine Scottish.

Realizar esta sesión de fotos fue tan rápida y fácil como no lo imaginé. Ja ja !, pero no tuve que viajar hasta la lejana y fría Escocia para conocer a un genuino "Escocés", aunque la falda roja y los accesorios son escocés genuinos.
