A Night To Remember / Una Noche Para Recordar

This is not a beam. This is not a fluorescent light tube. This is not a piece of white chalk in a classroom blackboard. This is just the Full moon that shone above the night the Earth obstreperously shook under our feet on February 27, 2010 at 3:34am.

These snapshots were captured just minutes after the biggest and most destructive 8.8-magnitude earthquake that Chile has had so far in the last 50 years ever.
It was a night to remember.

Esto no es un rayo de luz. No es un tubo de luz fluorescente. No es un pedazo de tiza blanca en el pizarrón de una sala de clases. Es simplemente la luna Llena que brillaba la noche en que la Tierra se sacudió estrepitosamente bajo nuestros pies el 27 de Febrero de 2010 a las 3:34am.

Estas fotos fueron captadas sólo minutos después del más grande y destructivo terremoto magnitud 8.8 que Chile haya tenido en los últimos 50 años lejos.
Fue una noche para recordar.

The Drowned Seagull / La Gaviota Ahogada

What does a "drowned seagull" have to do with an innocent girl playing with her doll?
Nothing. There's nothing in common really between both subjects, but as I was photo shooting this little girl, I began to tune a song about a seagull that drowned in the sea as a form of putting some "music" to the scene. But it didn't work much at all because the model said: "Shut up, that song doesn't rise my mood", so I had to stop what I was playing -- but I continued with that idea in my mind and it's done.
Nothing in common at all, but I liked the title for this photo session.

¿Qué tiene que ver una "gaviota ahogada" con una inocente niña que juega con su muñeca?
Nada. No hay nada en común realmente entre ambos temas, pero mientras fotografiaba y capturaba a esta pequeña niña, comencé a entonar una canción sobre una gaviota que se ahogaba en el mar como forma de colocar algo de "música" a la escena. Pero no funcionó mucho ya que la modelo me dijo: "Cállate, esa canción no me levanta el ánimo", asi que tuve que parar lo que estaba cantando -- pero yo continué con esa idea en mente y ya está.
Nada en común, pero me gustó el título para esta sesión de fotos.

Suffer Well / Sufrir Bien

The freelance independent pro photographer Roberto Olivares (above) and a friend of mine, proposed me a few weeks ago to put me upon a serious photo shoot under the attention and orders of his lens. I did accept the challenge to be in front of his camera and we began to work and develop his visual idea which was just as simple but not as simple as it is used to be, within the pro image photography.
He supplied his studio, the lights and his fantastic Canon 40D - and I supplied the mood to make it all work. As a peculiar behind-the-scene curiosity, the black T-shirt I wear in this session was bought at a second-hand store and the hand-writting on the front was made on my own inspired when I was listening to my favorite British band Depeche Mode's "Suffer Well".
Thanks to my friend Roberto for his invitation to this experience of working in his studio under the pro lights.

El fotógrafo profesional independiente Roberto Olivares (foto superior) y amigo mío, me propuso hace unas semanas atrás colocarme en una sesión fotográfica seria bajo la atención y órdenes de su lente. Acepté el desafío de estar en frente de su cámara y comenzamos a trabajar y desarrollar su idea visual la que fue tan simple pero no tan simple como suele ser, dentro de la fotografía publicitaria profesional.
El puso su estudio, las luces y su fantástica Canon 40D - y yo puse el ánimo para que todo funcionara. Como curiosidad peculiar detrás de cámara, la polera negra que llevo puesta en esta sesión fue comprada en una tienda de segunda mano y el texto frontal fue hecho por mi mismo mientras escuchaba "Sufrir Bien" de mi banda Británica favorita Depeche Mode.

Gracias a mi amigo Roberto Olivares por su invitación a esta experiencia de trabajar en su estudio bajo las luces profesionales.

The Industrial Trend

Always searching for those underground-style locations, I came across this abandoned building in the south east part of the town, where I made this Industrial-trend photography.
I called Damher Cohen (who's into the Industrial-style based music and garments) to help me with the visuals I wanted to make. He accepted and we began to work in the project and this is the final result.

Siempre buscando esas locaciones de estilo "under", encontré este abandonado edificio en la parte sur oriente de la ciudad, en donde hice esta fotografía de estilo Industrial.
Llamé a Damher Cohen (que es de la onda vestuario y música basado en el estilo Industrial) para que me ayudara con las fotos que quería realizar. El aceptó y comenzamos a trabajar en el proyecto y este es el resultado final.

Welcome 2010 / Bienvenido 2010

2009 was a very good year for me visually speaking, and 2010 is to be even more. New ideas in mind, new inner energy to bring out, new people, new faces and new attitudes to discover and to play with. Image is a play and I like to play with it, and when you play with the image you have fun. And when you have fun, you make creativity.
This is what happens when the inspiration is in the air and you have to let it flow and don't let it go. Work hard, work inspired and have fun. This is it.

El 2009 fue un muy buen año para mí visualmente hablando, y el 2010 lo será aun más. Nuevas ideas, nueva energía interior por sacar, nueva gente, nuevos rostros y nuevas actitudes por descubrir y con que jugar. La imagen es un juego y a mí me gusta jugar con ella, y cuando juegas con la imagen lo pasas bien. Y cuando lo pasas bien, haces creatividad.
Esto es lo que sucede cuando la inspiración está a flor de piel y tienes que hacerla fluir y no dejarla ir. Trabajar duro, trabajar inspirado y pasarlo bien. Así es.
